Introduction

 

Patamda    Block    was  established  on   2nd  October 1956  under  the  first  phase  of   community    development   program. In  the earlier  stage  the  name of  Patmada  Block  Hqr  was   Bangurda. In the year 1959-60   it’s  head quarter  was established in  newly  constructed   Bhawan  at  Mouza  Lawa. In  this  year only  this Block received a letter of appreciation from the then Development Commissioner, Bihar Patna for it’s hard work in the development programs.

The people of this block  had  played a  major   role  in the freedom struggle  of our country. During the course the locals had engaged themselves in burning the Police station and  looting  the   post office. Consequently  the police had to open fire at the famous Kankidih-Kumir Cowk of Patamda.

 

Geographical and Physical features

 

Head Quarter of Patamda Block is positioned at 25 Kms NorthEast of Jamshedpur (District Head Quarter). its Eastern and northern boundary there lies  the  Bandwan , town, Man Bazaar and Bara Bazaar of West Bengal. It’s western boundary touches the boundary of Nimdih Block of  West Singhbhum  and it’s southern  boundary touches the boundary of Jamshedpur Block.

Dalma mountain is spread over   Koyra,    Kuiyani, Bodam,   Beldih,   Mirjadih, Layalam panchayats of  Patamda. Gobarghusi & Sisda panchayat also covers few mountains. Totko Nala, Dighi Nala, Saat Nala, Paniyada Nala are few small rivers flowing through Patamda block which dries up during  February to March.  No  minerals  found  in this  block except stone mining is done. The whole population of this block is dependent on agriculture during rainy season.

Attractions

 

  • Dimna Lake And Dam

Located at a distance of 13 kms from the city limits, at the foot

f the Dalma Hills, its drously attractive surroundings are ideal for picnic and boating. TATA Steel has constructed    Dimna Lake in the Mirzadih   panchayat of  Patamda  Block. Tourists   visit   this   lake  especially during November to  February. Even  the tourists  keep  on visiting   this place  during  the other months too. The accessibility to this lake   becomes easier via Jamshedpur. It is also supplying water to the city. Lake House of Dimna is at the bank of the lake.

Dalma Wild Life Sanctuary

 

Dalma Mountain Range is at an altitude of 3000 feet. Lurking in the thick cover of its jungle (193 sq. km.) are elephants, barking deer, sloth beer, porcupines, leopard, tigers etc.  Small hideouts have been made at several places in the sanctuary where one can see wild animals in their natural habitat. On the mountaintop are the guesthouse of Tata Steel and Forest Department. There is also a temple of Hindu deity Shiva on the mountain top where devotees throng to it during “Shivaratri”.

Village Electrification

 

In totatlity 53 villages have been electrified. The names are Mirzadih, Gedua,    haludbani,     patiPani,   Madudih, Kutimakuli, Bonta, Chimti, Pagda, Kumari, Rapacha, Barudih, Layalam, Nutandih, Dhusra, Bamani, Gobarghusi, Ghoshdih,    Khedua, Gadigram, Kedurkocha,  Jhadbamani,   Lava,    Poklabeda,   Patamda,  Rangatand,   Macha,   Banshgarh,  Chudda,   Srirampur, Bidra,  Kankidih,  Kumir,    Kantagoda,  Belidih,   Rakhdih,   Bandh,   Gopalpur, Gengada,    Kumarda,   Bangurda, Padgidih,   Kamalpur,  Mahlipada,  Badasusni,  Chotasusni, Rasiknagar, Jalla, Pathardih, Novadih, Aaguidangra, Dhighi, Bhula.

 

Roads

 

Imporatant Road Connectivity :
Pitched Road from Jamshedpur to Patamda Katin.
Pitched Road from Katin to Suski and Suski to Bandwan.
Pitched Road from Belatand to Jodsa.
Pitched Road from Belatand to Bodam and from Bodam to Raghunath Pur
Pitched Road from Pagda to Layalam.
Pitched Road from Bhula to Lawajoda.

The total length of above mentioned roads is appx 100 K.M. In addition  to  the above  mentioned  roads Bodam-Bhadudih, Bodam-Madhavpur,    Jalla-Kamalpur,    Patamda-Lachipur,     Chudda-Lachipur,     Laylam - Gedua,     Kumir - Dandudih, Gopalpur-Kashmar, Kashmar-Bankuchia are connected by Grade-I roads and rest of the villages are connected by Murram Roads.

The block headquarter can be reached from railway station by Auto or any four wheeler.

Bus Stand

 

Block Head quarter is accessible by bus as it has a bus stand where buses arrive from Sakchi (Jamshedpur), Balrampur, Bandwan, Purulia (West Bengal).

 

Airport

 

The Nearest Airport to Block Head Qaurter is Jamshedpur Airport at Jamshedpur which is under direct control of TISCO..

 

Drinking Water Facility

 

There are 162 revenue villages in totality under Patamda Block and all the villages have been provided safe drinking water facility through hand pumps and well.

Freedam Fighter

 

Freedom fighters from Patamda Block :

  • Late Chowdhary Mahto, Village : Lachipur
  • Late Amrendra Nath Dutt , Village : Kultand (Sisda)

Both of the above listed freedom fighters were engaged in 1942 Quit India Movement with other freedom fighters and extended  their  leadership qualities. Government  of  India  awarded  both  the  personalities freedom fighter pension.
