Social Welfare
The Department of Social Welfare, Purbi Singhbhum primarily focuses on the development of women and children in the areas of nutrition, child health, empowerment of women and care for the physically challenged. All children irrespective of their caste, creed and colour are covered by the scheme including pregnant women, lactating mothers and children (0-6) age group.
The Social Welfare department is the nodal department for implementation of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme. There are 1722 anganwari Centers are running under 10 ICDS projects of the district. The Six major services under ICDS programme are
Achievement
The local level committee under National Trust Act has made. 159 Legal Guardians for mentally retarded persons. The 159 applications have been entered on-line, which is highest in India so far.
